Tibet Our Country Project:
Another rich and fundamental educational activity in TCV Schools is the Tibet Our Country Project that has taken a firm root in the curriculum of our schools. This project aims to bring out an understanding and appreciation of our rich cultural heritage through a very practical and hands-on experience of our culture and way of life. A month is devoted to the study and research of our cultural and way of life through various educational vehicles like dramas, quizzes, simulations, discussions, debates, elocution and individual, group and class projects. It is carried by Tibetan teachers supported by other subject teachers of the section. The project ends with a grand exhibition of the children's work for all to see. The main objective and principle of this program is to provide a maximum opportunity to the children to gain a comprehensive understanding of their country, its culture, tradition, religion, heritage, present situation with special reference to its environment, wildlife, demographic realities etc.
The best part of the program is that every single student of the senior and junior section was involved in the program.
This program usually begins with traditional ceremonial function in the morning. It was then followed by Displays, Presentations, Dramas, panel of intellectual discussions and quiz, songs and dances from the roof of the world in between and grand exhibitions. Science Day: Science and Information Technology
We have been observing Science Day for many years. The main aim of observing this day is to give a platform in implicating the learned knowledge by constructing working and non working models, conducting experiments and displaying the important science apparatus. We display all these to build temptation and create motivation to the masses. Though Science Day is observed for only a day but the preparation and learning runs through out one month. In this one month duration, students from various classes participate and each class is required to prepare a topic of their choice. These are displayed in the hall to be witnessed by staff and students. The working modals prepared by our students during last year's Science Day were of very good standard which could be displayed even at the inter-school level.
Since the importance of the subject is given by observing a special day every year, the students have been displaying good experimental skills and are able to apply Science in every day context. For instance, the students take full initiative in setting up the stage light for almost all the school activities.
Cultural Competition : Tibetan Song and Dance
Every year, on the birthday of His Holiness, the school under the supervision of the Games committee and cultural committee a pure traditional Tibetan Song and Dance competition is held among the four houses. The items include two dances, one group song and one duet song. This program is looked upon by all with great interest. The house masters as well as the students spend almost a month preparing for this special event. A large number of students get opportunity to participate.

The events include all the track and field with group relay as the concluding and the most attention drawer.
Social day-community services and awareness.
Social day is observed every year by the students of class six and above with the assistance of the respective subject teachers. The students from each section of the class come up with various charts, working modals describing the landscapes, vegetation, flora and fauna, the heavenly bodies, major rivers of Tibet and the world and so on. The students display lots of enthusiasm and diligence in such activities. However to make the social day even more interesting and effective to enrich the student's knowledge on the subject, more stress has been laid on the community services and awareness. The major activities included-
-Visiting an old aged home located in the nearby Tibetan settlement and offering helping hands to the aged admitted there besides spending some quality time and sharing thoughts with them.
-Initiating talks and campaigns for the local Tibetans and Indians on few important issues in the society viz..Global warming, pollutions, water conservation, importance of clean environment etc
-class wise demonstrations by the students in the school on disaster management, ecological imbalance, consumer awareness, road signs, the structure of the CTA Dharamsala(Central Tibetan administration) and so on.
A large number of students are involved and it gives them an opportunity to display their skills, knowledge and creativity. Hence, social day is observed for almost a month.
